Project Synopsis 

​I am the founder and Editor-in-Chief of New Sociology: Journal of Critical Praxis, a social justice journal conceived by and for racialized, Indigenous, queer, trans, disabled, and woman-identified students, activists, organizers, and creatives; the curator of Erotic Pedagogy, an online resource designed to help PK-12 educators decolonize sexual education, funded by the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) Institute at the University of British Columbia; and the cofounder and now director of The People's Pantry, a food justice mutual aid group formed in response to COVID-19, feeding families from Tkaronto to the Haldimand Tract. My most recent project, Exacerbated Hunger: Addressing Racialized Food Insecurity in the Era of COVID-19, drew on my organizing work with The People's Pantry to examine and address racialized food insecurity in the era of COVID-19 using digital storytelling and qualitative interviews. The project was funded by a SSHRC Insight Development Grant in partnership with Re•Vision: The Centre for Art and Social Justice and the Community Engaged Scholarship Institute at the University of Guelph, where I now hold Adjunct Professor status and completed a Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2025. I recently launched an online learning module on Food Justice and Food Sovereignty on Re•Vision's Worlding Difference Knowledge Platform, co-authored by my Graduate Research Assistants, Nealob Kakar and Naty Tremblay, and won a SSHRC Exchange Grant to expand my work into exploring student food insecurity. ​​
